Assistant Controller; Baltimore, MD; $125K - $140K + Bonus
Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager – High-Growth Equipment & Manufacturing Business
In-Office (5 days/week) | Flexible start times
$125,000 – $140,000 base + bonus
The Opportunity
Our client is continuing to grow through strategic acquisitions and is hiring an Assistant Controller (or strong Accounting Manager) to support its equipment division.
This is a highly visible role working directly with the Controller and overseeing a team of 10–12 accounting professionals. You’ll play a key role in day-to-day accounting operations while helping the business scale responsibly — without sacrificing culture or work-life balance.
If you enjoy being close to the business, leading people, and working in a stable but fast-moving environment, this is the kind of role that doesn’t open often.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll partner closely with the Controller to oversee accounting operations, support and develop the team, and ensure accuracy across financial reporting. The role has strong exposure to inventory and operational accounting, making it ideal for someone coming from manufacturing, construction, equipment, or distribution environments.
As the company continues to grow through acquisitions, you’ll also gain exposure to integration work and process improvement initiatives.
What They’re Looking For
This role is well-suited for a current Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller who’s ready for more ownership.
A background in inventory-driven businesses (manufacturing, construction, equipment, or distribution) is a big plus, but not required. Public accounting experience or CPA-track candidates tend to do very well here, especially those who enjoy leadership and collaboration.
Why This Company
Our client has built a reputation for strong leadership, long-term thinking, and a culture that values people just as much as performance. Despite being part of a large, well-capitalized organization, the environment is grounded, team-oriented, and respectful of work-life balance.
This is a true 40–45 hour work week, flexible start times, and a place where growth happens without burnout.
If you’re looking for stability, leadership opportunity, and long-term upside — this is worth a conversation.
