Job Title: Housing Management Co-ordinator
Type: Temporary
Location: Yeovil
Salary: £14.06 + Holiday Pay
BRC are working closely with a leading housing and support organisation to recruit a Housing Management Co-ordinator to provide an effective housing management service across a portfolio of supported accommodation.
This role will be responsible for coordinating rent and service charge collection, maximising occupancy, overseeing voids and repairs, managing tenancy conditions and ensuring properties remain safe, secure and well maintained.
Working as part of an area team, you will provide effective housing management services to clients while working closely with support teams, care providers, landlords, contractors and other external partners.
Duties:
- Coordinate rent and service charge collection, ensuring income is collected effectively and processed in a timely manner.
- Manage rent arrears and implement relevant policies and procedures.
- Oversee void properties and ensure rooms are turned around within agreed timescales.
- Monitor and arrange repairs, property defects and health and safety checks.
- Ensure properties meet required regulatory, quality and client standards.
- Undertake property visits, welfare visits and housing management inspections.
- Coordinate Service Level Agreements with third-party care and support providers.
- Collate performance and compliance information and prepare reports and statistics.
- Support referral, assessment, allocation and admission procedures.
- Conduct client inductions, issue welcome information and explain tenancy or licence conditions.
- Monitor tenancy obligations and take formal action where tenancy conditions are breached, including court proceedings where required.
- Maintain accurate housing management records and update relevant systems.
- Liaise with contractors, landlords, support workers, housing teams and other stakeholders.
- Undertake property risk assessments and follow safeguarding and incident reporting procedures.
- Support clients with rent collection, benefit applications and maintaining their accommodation.
- Monitor the work of Housing Management Workers to ensure required standards are met.
- Maintain positive relationships with neighbours and wider communities.
- Ensure contractors meet contractual and quality requirements.
- Work flexibly across the agreed area and undertake regular local travel, with occasional regional or national travel.
Requirements:
- Experience working within supported/social housing, property management, care or criminal justice settings.
- Experience of housing management, including rent collection, re-letting and repairs monitoring.
- Experience of coordinating or developing other workers.
- Experience of dealing with tenancy breaches and formal tenancy action.
- Basic understanding of housing law, including tenancies and evictions.
- Ability to manage a housing management caseload and work to deadlines.
- Good understanding of building maintenance, housing management and health & safety.
- Ability to identify risk and follow safeguarding procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong IT skills, including experience using spreadsheets, databases and other computerised systems.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Ability to manage difficult situations professionally.
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external partners.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle where required.
- Flexibility to undertake lone working and work flexible hours where applicable.
