Job Title:          HR Consultant
Type:                Permanent
Location:          Hybrid working (Bristol 1x a week)
Salary:              £42,839 per annum
Hours:              37 hours a week
 
We are working with a leading local authority who are looking for an experienced HR Consultant to join their Workforce and Change - HR team.
 
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional to provide specialist advice and guidance across a broad range of complex employee relations matters, working closely with managers, employees and senior stakeholders.
 
Duties:

1. Provide expert HR advice and guidance on complex employee relations matters.
2. Manage a varied caseload including absence, disciplinary, grievance and performance management.
3. Support restructures, TUPE transfers, internal appeals, ACAS Early Conciliation and Employment Tribunal cases.
4. Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into grievances and misconduct.
5. Coach and support managers through formal HR processes.
6. Interpret HR policies and provide pragmatic recommendations and solutions.
7. Advise on changes to employment law and best practice.
8. Work closely with trade unions, employee representatives and senior leaders.
9. Analyse HR data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
10. Contribute to the development and review of HR policies and procedures.
11. Challenge practices where appropriate and promote positive change.
12. Work collaboratively across the wider HR function to ensure consistency and shared learning.

 
Requirements:

1. Chartered CIPD membership, or equivalent demonstrable HR experience, knowledge and skills with a commitment to achieving Chartered Membership.
2. Proven experience independently managing and advising on complex employee relations cases.
3. Strong knowledge and experience across disciplinary, grievance, TUPE, restructures, investigations and dispute resolution.
4. Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
5. Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
6. Ability to manage a busy caseload and multiple priorities effectively.
7. A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
8. Resilient and able to remain calm and focused under pressure.
9. High levels of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive information.
10. Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion within HR practice.
11. Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other business applications.
