Job Title: Housing Officer
Type: Permanent
Location: Cardiff
Salary: £33000 - £38000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
BRC are working closely with a leading housing association to recruit an experienced Income / Tenancy Sustainment Officer to join their Housing Management team.
This role involves managing a designated patch of properties, maximising rental income, supporting tenants to sustain their tenancies, and responding to anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases. The successful candidate will work closely with residents, partner agencies and internal teams to deliver high-quality housing management services and create safe, sustainable communities.
Duties:
- Manage a caseload of rent accounts, ensuring arrears are monitored and appropriate recovery action is taken.
- Support tenants to sustain their tenancies through early intervention and advice.
- Investigate and manage anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases, taking appropriate action in line with policies and procedures.
- Conduct home visits and estate inspections to maintain strong customer engagement.
- Work in partnership with external agencies, including local authorities, support providers and the police, to resolve tenancy-related issues.
- Prepare case files, witness statements and legal documentation where required.
- Attend court hearings and represent the organisation where appropriate.
- Promote tenancy compliance and provide advice on rights and responsibilities.
- Maintain accurate records and case notes using housing management systems.
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with relevant legislation, policies and best practice.
Requirements: - Experience managing rent arrears and/or anti-social behaviour cases within a social housing environment.
- Good knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy management and income recovery processes.
- Experience working with vulnerable customers and providing tenancy sustainment support.
- Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise workloads effectively.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and housing management systems.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (where required).
