SummaryThe V&V Engineer supports the planning and conduct of the DDG Combat System Upgrade test program, applying specific combat system experience to verify that Aegis Baseline 9 and associated subsystems meet functional performance specifications prior to platform integration, sea trials, and operational release. The role bridges systems engineering, design assurance, and test execution to ensure verification evidence is complete, traceable, and defensible.
Key Responsibilities: - Develop and maintain verification and validation plans for combat system elements, defining verification methods (analysis, inspection, demonstration, test) against functional performance specifications and the verification cross-reference matrix.
- Review, and approve test procedures for combat system integration testing, factory acceptance testing, harbour acceptance testing, and sea acceptance testing, ensuring traceability to specified requirements.
- Support the conduct of the test program, including combat system integration and test events, land-based test site trials, and shipboard test and trials activities across the three Hobart Class DDGs.
- Apply specific combat system domain knowledge (Aegis Baseline 9 combat management system, sensor and weapons interfaces) to identify test risks, coverage gaps, and anomalies during test execution.
- Analyse test results against acceptance criteria, document verification outcomes, and support root cause analysis and corrective action for test failures or non-conformances.
- Coordinate test activities and evidence exchange with Lockheed Martin Australia, Navantia Australia, Saab Australia, and Commonwealth test authorities.
- Maintain verification status accounting, ensuring evidence packages are complete and audit-ready to support System Requirements and Design Review.
