About the Role: This role is within CASG, working with JP9347 Capability Element 1, Joint Interface Control System. The successful candidate will support a small, high-performing project team to deliver enhanced Defence capability.
On behalf of the Project Manager, you will support financial planning and reporting and complete purchasing activities across JP9347.
Key activities will include: - Financial performance reporting
- Supporting long- and short-term budget planning
- Updating financial management records to ensure alignment with project plans
- Supporting and conducting major project payments
Experience/Skills Sought - As the successful candidate, you will possess experience in the following:
- Demonstrated skills and experience in budgetary and financial management
- Demonstrated skills and experience drafting financial documents in line with organisational policies and guidelines
- Demonstrated experience working in a dynamic team environment
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and take initiative in performing duties
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience in a government financial role would be beneficial but is not essential
- Experience in a CASG project environment would be beneficial but is not essential
Essential Qualification - Formal qualifications in Finance or financial administration
Highly Desirable - Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 6 qualification or higher relevant to the role

SFIA Skills Sought:The management of projects, typically (but not exclusively) involving the development and implementation of business processes to meet identified business needs, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales, and quality. The adoption and adaptation of project management methodologies based on the context of the project and selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
PRMG Level 4:Defines, documents and carries out small projects or sub-projects (typically less than six months, with limited budget, limited interdependency with other projects, and no significant strategic impact), alone or with a small team, actively participating in all phases. Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project. Applies appropriate project management methods and tools whether predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches. Agrees project approach with stakeholders, and prepares realistic plans (including quality, risk and communications plans) and tracks activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate. Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensures that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are recorded.
