The Commercial Advisor is to: Assist the Program Director EL2 on commercial matters as requested by them.
This includes commercial activities such as:
contract negotiations
contract advice
review of contract deliverables
Commercial tasks related to the program.
Provide administrative management of the Contract Suite
Provide commercial support on the transition of the DHFCS to EDHFCS
Lead (on behalf of the Program Director SHFC EL2) and manage the Contractors implementation of the Australian Industry Capability (AIC) plan (AICP)
Interface with the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group's (CASG) Material Procurement Branch (MPB) to resolve and obtain endorsement on commercial matters as required
Provide commercial procurement support and advice as required
Ensure procurement compliancy is achieved and maintained within the Sustainment team
Review Deliverables and provide commercial advice and support as required
Provide commercial advice and support to sustainment team members
Provide commercial support on identifying and managing sustainment risks
All other tasks as directed.
Addition to the defined responsibilities of the position, the following requirements of this position are considered fundamental to the position of Commercial Advisor JP9101:
Tertiary qualifications in Contract Management or related field, or at least 5 years' experience as a Commercial Advisor.
Understanding of ASDEFCON Support, Support Short and Strategic Materiel.
Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
The following requirements of this position are considered desirable to the position of Commercial Advisor JP9101:
Understanding of technical, logistical, and operational requirements in the delivery of capability, and knowledge of applicable Defence policy and legislation.
Understanding AIC requirements, policy and AIC contractor management.

SFIA Skills Sought: The overall management and control of the operation of formal contracts for supply of products and services. ITCM Level 4: Sources and collects contract performance data (such as pricing and supply chain costs), and monitors performance against KPIs. Identifies and reports under-performance and develops opportunities for improvement. Monitors compliance with Terms and Conditions and take appropriate steps to address non-compliance. Pro-actively manages risk and reward mechanisms in the contract. Monitors progress against business objectives specified in the business case. Identifies where change is required, and plans for variations. In consultation with stakeholders, ensures that change management protocols are implemented.
