Deliverables / Key Responsibilities
Perform network engineering activities across voice, video, and data systems, including converged communications environments.
Conduct requirements analysis, development, and allocation for network and communications systems.
Ensure network requirements are traceable to system-level capability needs and operational use cases.
Support network architecture and design.
Review design documentation and specialist network engineering reports.
Develop and review engineering artefacts.
Provide engineering support to communications networks and associated systems throughout the project lifecycle.
Assist in identification and management of technical risks, issues, and network performance concerns.
Support cybersecurity and network hardening considerations in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Review and provide technical input on contractor deliverables related to communications and network engineering.
Engage with Defence stakeholders, industry partners, and other engineering disciplines to support integration outcomes.
Participate in engineering reviews, design reviews, and technical working groups.
All other tasks as directed.
Experience/Skills Sought:
Be a Chartered Professional Engineer of a registered Professional Engineering Body (such as Engineers Australia) equivalent or be able to attain chartered status.
Tertiary qualifications in Network Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in leadership and management roles, and an ability to coach and guide teams in the implementation of strategy and change.
Understanding of technical, logistical, and operational requirements in the delivery of capability, and knowledge of applicable Defence policy and legislation.
Experience in managing cross-functional teams of diverse technical specialisations.
Act prudently, ethically and lawfully.
Communicate effectively with line managers and Division Head, including consultation with them and taking appropriate direction from them.
Employ best practice in the execution of work, focusing on achieving outcomes, ensuring that decisions are made by appropriately qualified and experienced persons, and taking judicious risks.
