Responsibilities:

• Undertake complex budgeting activities, including preparation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting in accordance with Defence financial policy.
• Analyse and interpret financial data to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of financial information and reports.
• Prepare complex financial reports, briefs, and submissions for governance forums, providing evidence‑based insights and advice to stakeholders.
• Provide advice on budgeting policies, financial management frameworks, and accounting requirements.
• Perform quality assurance checks on financial processes and documentation to ensure compliance and control effectiveness.
• Manage, monitor, and report on financial operations activities relevant to the project.
• Interpret and apply legislative, policy, and regulatory frameworks relating to Defence financial administration.
• Resolve complex financial issues through systematic analysis, identifying alternative courses of action.
• Contribute to the management of financial system processes, including master data, interfaces, and reconciliations, ensuring data quality and compliance.
• Work with stakeholders to resolve system‑related incidents and issues impacting financial information and reporting.
• Provide functional advice on financial systems‑related practices, reporting structures, and controls.
• Build and sustain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including team members, contractors, and Defence enabling
• Liaise with stakeholders on complex or sensitive financial issues, negotiating mutually beneficial outcomes where required.
• Contribute to collaborative team environments, participate in group activities, and support capability development through coaching or knowledge sharing.
• Prepare and present financial material for project reviews, reporting cycles, and governance forums.

Responsibilities And Experience:

• Experience delivering complex financial, budgeting, accounting, or financial operations work within a Commonwealth or Defence context.
• Ability to apply financial legislation, policy, and governance frameworks to a diverse range of financial tasks.
• Demonstrated capability in analysing, interpreting, and assuring financial data and reports.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage complex or sensitive discussions constructively.
• Capacity to manage workflows, set priorities, and deliver outcomes independently under broad direction.
