Deliverables and services:

• Provide structural and substantive editing, as well as copyediting and proofreading, of a wide range of Defence publications.
• Collaborate with a small team of editors and multimedia specialists.
• Assist with publication structure.
• Assist with English expression, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and graphics, and Defence writing conventions.
• Ensure appropriate format.
• Assist in developing (via multimedia specialist resources) draft diagrams into a finished product.
• Liaise directly with the Defence print and distribution team on behalf of the publication developer for the delivery of in-house and outsourced high-volume printing and distribution services.
• Maintain an auditable trail, using Objective, of changes to and decisions on Defence publications.
• Support development and certification of terminology in support.
• Share ideas, information and experiences through knowledge management.
• Attend domestic and international events as directed.

Experience and Skills Sought:

• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a professional editor.
• Experience producing book-length manuscripts that comply with established style sheets.
• Fluency in the MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
• Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working both independently and within a team environment.
• Ability to organise and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
