Roles and Responsibilities
 
1. Data Engineering and Operations.
This team is primarily responsible for all platform engineering, data engineering and related ITSM activities on the Defence Data and related platforms managed by the Branch. 

2. Branch Operations.

• Project management knowledge including but not limited to the employment of Agile work approaches
• MS Teams
• Defence Service Management System
• Working knowledge of data workflows, tools and technologies that underpin branch operations.

3. Information and data architecture (including data modelling)

• Contribution to enterprise architecture
• Business engagement including development and delivery of communications and change outcomes
• Development of data products (data models).
• A working knowledge of Defence groups and services aligned business outcomes is highly advantageous.

4. Data Analytics Business Intelligence and Visualisation

• Project management knowledge including but not limited to the employment of Agile work approaches
• MS Teams
• Defence Service Management System
• Working knowledge of data workflows, tools and technologies that underpin branch operations.
• Cloudera Data visualisation, Power Bi and tableau
• Windows IIS and associated Web application development tools

5. Data science and artificial intelligence

• Definition, design and delivery of data science based analytical solutions and insights;
• Advice and support to data science capability management (new requirements) on the Defence Data platform
• Delivery of advice and support to individuals and teams undertaking data science activities across Defence.

6. Data Products
This team is primarily responsible for the delivery of defined large projects and forms the basis for ongoing Product Management and sustainment (Product owner). Engaging heavily with business areas and product sponsors, the team is comprised of program schedulers, technical business analysts and solution architects with a strong background or working knowledge of data engineering and data modelling.
