Our client in Canberra seeks the services of a Senior Data Analyst with Baseline clearance.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Liaising with stakeholders to understand and document their data needs and translate these requirements into reporting products.
- Leading the development of advanced Excel and Power BI reporting products to support program managers and to provide insights to stakeholders and the executive.
- Managing ad-hoc data and reporting requests across diverse subject matters and datasets.
- Developing, implementing and maintaining SQL queries and scripts for efficient data extraction and transformation.
- Maintaining DAX, PowerQuery M, data models and visuals within Power BI dashboards
- Ensuring data quality, integrity and security in all data-related processes in accordance with departmental and Australian Government policies.
Technical skills - have high proficiency in SQL, DAX and PowerQuery M and experience with relational SQL databases
- have expertise in using Power BI for data visualisation and reporting
- Experience with other data analysis tools and software (e.g., Python, R).
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and predictive modelling.
- Knowledge and an interest in emerging data analysis and science technologies (machine learning, etc.)
Essential criteria
1. Business intelligence: Level 2 (SFIA)
Assists with the creation of regular business intelligence reports using standard tools. Supports data preparation from existing sources.
2. Data communication: Level 2 (DCF)
Can develop and deliver effective narrative to communicate insights drawn from a range of data sources and outputs Can comfortably question data and results they are presented, and answer technical questions relating to their data, relevant to the audience Can communicate effectively between technical and non-technical experts across data production, management, or use, including clients, managers and data professionals Can effectively communicate the relationship between the data and the context in which it is used
3. Data outputs, products or services: Level 2 (DCF)
Is responsible for the production of a data output, product or service. Can create data outputs or products and deliver data services in accordance with established processes and systems, and can explain decisions made at all stages
4. Data visualisation: Level 3 (SFIA)
Uses a visualisation product, as guided, to design and create data visuals. Selects appropriate visualisation techniques from the options available. Engages with the target user to prototype and refine specified visualisations.
5. Statistical data analysis: Level 2 (DCF)
Can use specialist statistical applications for statistical models Is able to understand and amend existing code (programming language) to conduct analytical tasks
