This is an exciting opportunity to join Raukūmara Pae Maunga as a Communications Coordinator, a creative and purposeful role at the heart of one of the most significant ecological and cultural restoration programmes in Aotearoa.
Raukūmara Pae Maunga is addressing decades of neglect and taking decisive action to restore the mauri of Raukūmara, a mountain to sea forest ecosystem on the East Coast of the North Island. Guided by the kaupapa "Kia haumanu te mauri o te Raukūmara", the Trust is building a specialist team to implement large-scale ecosystem recovery at a landscape scale. This is a rare opportunity to tell a story that truly matters.
About the Role Reporting directly to the Pou Whakatamore (Chief Executive Officer), the Communications Coordinator is responsible for managing, maintaining and growing the digital presence of Raukūmara Pae Maunga across multimedia platforms, including social media and the website, as well as supporting broader communications activities.
Working closely with the Pou Whakatamore, Mana Hautū, Team Leads and Oranga teams, this role will ensure consistent, accurate and engaging communication that reflects the kaupapa, activities and impact of the Trust. The location of this role is flexible and will be negotiated with the preferred candidate either Te Kaha or Ruatoria, or another appropriate location.
Key Responsibilities Include: - Creating, scheduling and publishing engaging content across organisational social media platforms in line with agreed processes and brand standards.
- Developing written, visual and short-form video content aligned with the communications plan.
- Capturing imagery and video content from field operations, events and engagement activities.
- Maintaining and updating website content to ensure accuracy, currency and optimisation.
- Managing and organising the digital asset library, including images and video, to ensure accessibility and quality control.
- Supporting the Pou Whakatamore and Mana Hautū with media releases, external communications and stakeholder reporting.
- Identifying potential communications risks and proactively contributing to solutions.
- Contributing to wider communications and engagement planning, including identifying opportunities to tell the Raukūmara Pae Maunga story and grow audience awareness.
About You You will be a creative, organised communicator with a genuine passion for storytelling and a commitment to kaupapa Māori values. You will bring strong digital content skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a dispersed team.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Experience creating and managing content for social media platforms.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and voice for different audiences.
- Experience capturing and editing basic photo and video content.
- Experience maintaining website content and basic CMS knowledge.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- A sound understanding of privacy and consent requirements for digital content.
- A commitment to upholding tikanga and organisational values in all public communications.
The following experience will be advantageous:
- A qualification in communications, media, marketing, or digital content.
- Graphic design capability.
- Experience drafting media releases.
- Experience working within environmental, conservation, or kaupapa Māori organisations.
- Knowledge of the Raukūmara region and its communities.
