About the role:
We have an opportunity for an Environmental Labourer to join our team based out of Ranfurly supporting the surrounding area. This practical, outdoor role supports the upkeep and presentation of amenity turf, gardens, cemeteries, playgrounds, sports fields, irrigation, litter collection, and other CODC assets.
Key responsibilities include operating wide area ride-on mowers, weed eating, spraying, carrying out general ground’s maintenance, and completing basic mechanical maintenance on plant and equipment. This is a solo position based out of Ranfurly that is supported by staff from Alexandra on occasion as additional labour support is needed.
The role services the wider Ranfurly area, including Naseby, Ranfurly, Wedderburn, Oturehua, Waipiata, Hamiltons Cemetery, and Patearoa. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a variety of community assets across these locations,
Experience using large ride-on mowers, push mowers and/or weed eaters, and agrichemicals would be an advantage; however, training will be provided to the right person.
What you need to succeed
- Basic mechanical knowledge and a current, clean full Class 1 driver licence; W, T and R endorsements would be advantageous.
- A demonstrated commitment to health and safety.
- Dedication to completing every job to a high standard and in line with contract requirements.
- A courteous and respectful manner when interacting with the public.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work reliably with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to work the hours required to meet operational needs.
- The ability to prioritise tasks and meet agreed timeframes.
- The ability to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively.
