About the Role
A Power Technician at Delta installs, maintains, tests and repairs critical electricity distribution network equipment to keep power flowing safely and reliably. Working on high-voltage substations and network assets, you'll diagnose faults, carry out switching operations and use specialist testing equipment to ensure network performance. You'll provide technical support, assist with training, and participate in an after-hours standby roster as part of a collaborative field team. Success in this role requires strong high-voltage technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to quality workmanship and safety.
About You
You bring proven experience working with high-voltage electrical equipment and a strong understanding of maintenance, fault finding, testing and commissioning practices. You're confident interpreting technical drawings, solving complex problems and applying safe, methodical work practices in the field. We're looking for a motivated team player who can work independently, build positive relationships and take pride in delivering exceptional service to our customers and communities.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Full Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) Registration and current Practicing License or EWRB Limited Practicing License or a letter from the EWRB stating that you are eligible to apply for a EWRB Limited Practicing License.
- Full Class 1 New Zealand or international equivalent driver’s license.
- 4+ years' HV industry experience.
- Knowledge of maintenance practices and techniques involving distribution equipment and plant.
- Proven technical experience in high voltage zone substations environment.
- SCADA, protection relay configuration and testing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and carrying out As-Builts on drawings.
More About the Role: - This is a full-time, permanent role working a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with weekend work required from time to time.
- Overtime is paid after 40 hours at a rate of time and a half.
- The wage range for this role is $45-$55/hour (gross) - dependent upon qualifications and experience.
- This role is primarily based in Dunedin, Otago, in the South Island of New Zealand and work may be required across the greater Otago Region to assist with outages and/or emergency work.
