Scope of the Role
We are looking for a skilled Electrician / Electrical Fitter to join our Power and Communication Services team, working across the Central Region. This role involves installation, maintenance, fault finding, repairs, testing, and commissioning across a wide range of electricity distribution network assets and support systems. You’ll be involved in varied and technically interesting projects, participate in switching operations and standby rosters, and work to high safety and workmanship standards.
- This is a full-time, permanent role working a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Overtime is paid after 40 hours at a rate of time and a half.
- The wage range for this role is $40-$45/hour (gross) - dependent upon qualifications and experience.
This role is primarily based in Cromwell in the South Island of New Zealand however travel within the Otago Region may be required from time to time to assist with outages and/or emergency work.

We’re seeking a motivated, safety‑focused professional who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys working both independently and as part of a team. You’ll bring strong technical capability, good customer judgement, and the confidence to communicate clearly with colleagues and customers alike. This role suits someone who enjoys solving problems, mentoring others, and contributing positively to a high‑performing regional team.
What you need to succeed: - Full Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) Registration as an Electrician with a current Practicing License or Limited Practicing License or a letter from the EWRB confirming that you are eligible to apply for an EWRB Limited Practicing License.
- Full Class 1 New Zealand or international equivalent driver’s license.
- 3+ years' experience in distribution networks or industrial electrical installation work.
- Strong understanding of electrical regulations, safety standards, and quality workmanship.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, maintain records, and communicate effectively in the field.
