We are looking for reliable and motivated Spray Operators to join our Greenspace Services team in the Canterbury region. This is a hands on role for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in quality workmanship, and is committed to health and safety.
You will be working as part of a supportive team delivering essential greenspace maintenance services for a range of clients, including councils and key contractors.
About You
You are someone who enjoys practical, physical work and takes pride in seeing the results of your efforts. You are safety focused, dependable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. You have a positive attitude, follow instructions well, and maintain a professional approach when dealing with supervisors, customers, and the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out vegetation spraying and related greenspace maintenance tasks in accordance with work plans and schedules
- Operate spray equipment, tractors, and associated plant safely, legally, and efficiently
- Apply agrichemicals in line with NZS8409, Growsafe requirements, and company procedures
- Maintain a strong commitment to health and safety, including presenting fit for duty and following all safety protocols
- Undertake manual labouring tasks to a high standard in outdoor environments
- Conduct routine equipment checks and ensure machinery and spray equipment are well maintained
- Accurately complete required documentation, including timesheets and spray records
- Follow instructions from team leaders and managers and communicate effectively with the wider team
- Participate in required training, tailgate meetings, and toolbox talks
- Represent the organisation professionally when dealing with supervisors, clients, council representatives, and the public
- Identify potential issues or hazards on site and report them promptly
- Work both independently and as part of a team to deliver quality vegetation control outcomes
What You’ll Bring While not essential, the following would be an advantage:
- W, T, R and D endorsements
- Growsafe (NZS8409) certification
- Management of Agrichemicals Certificate
- National Certificate in Horticulture
- Traffic Management (STMS) certification
- Experience working with local councils or large contractors
