Utility Arborists play a critical role in maintaining safe and reliable electricity networks by managing vegetation around powerlines and electrical infrastructure. This work involves tree pruning, removals, and hazard mitigation in compliance with industry regulations and safety standards. You will be operating specialised equipment such as EWPs, chainsaws, and rigging systems, often in challenging environments, to ensure public safety and network integrity. The role requires strong technical skills, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work effectively within a team to deliver high-quality vegetation management services.

What you need to succeed: - Wheels, Tracks & Rollers Endorsement
- Drivers Licence Class 2
- 3 years plus experience as an Arborist or a level 4 NZQA qualification OR equivalent in Arboriculture.
- First Aid at Work
Core Duties: - Perform safe and compliant vegetation management around powerlines and electrical infrastructure.
- Conduct site and hazard assessments, including electrical hazard identification and exclusion zones.
- Prune, trim, and remove trees using insulated tools, climbing techniques, and elevated work platforms (EWPs).
- Execute technical tree removals and rigging operations near live conductors.
- Operate and maintain chainsaws, rigging systems, and mechanised equipment (e.g., chippers, skid steers).
- Follow all industry regulations, company safety procedures, and environmental controls.
- Complete accurate documentation, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and tailgate safety briefings.
- Work collaboratively within a high-performance crew to deliver efficient and safe outcomes.
About the role: - This is a full-time, permanent role working a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Overtime is paid after 40 hours at a rate of time and a half.
- The wage range for this role is $39-$41/hour (gross) - dependent upon qualifications and experience.
- This role is primarily based in Queenstown, Central Otago, in the South Island of New Zealand.
