PPS Consulting is pleased to partner with our valued client, a global OEM specialist in heavy machinery, to source a Regional Operations Manager – Technical for their Oceania business.
About the Role
Based in the southern Brisbane Corridor and reporting directly to the APAC Managing Director, you will step into a senior regional engineering and operations leadership role with responsibility for driving technical performance, aftersales operations, compliance, quality, and operational excellence across Oceania. This role offers a clear pathway to broader Asia Pacific leadership responsibility as the business continues to grow.
This newly created role requires a unique combination of hands-on engineering problem-solving capability, regional leadership experience, and strategic commercial insight. You will act as the key technical authority for the region, serving as the critical link between customers, dealer networks, and global Research & Development, while supporting business growth and market expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Authority – act as the regional expert for mechanical and electrical systems, serving as the escalation point for complex technical issues, diagnostics, commissioning, and root-cause analysis.
- Engineering Compliance – provide engineering oversight and technical sign-off where required, ensuring compliance with Australian and in-country regulations, including RPEQ responsibilities.
- After Sales & Operations – drive equipment uptime, service quality, warranty performance, and continuous improvement across the region.
- Dealer & Distributor Support – strengthen technical capability through structured training, coaching, and support to ensure consistent service standards across dealer and distributor networks.
- Supply Chain & Spare Parts – lead regional spare parts strategy, inventory availability, and coordination with global supply teams.
- Quality & Safety – champion regional quality initiatives, reliability analysis, risk management, and a strong safety culture.
- Strategic Input – provide technical insight into regional growth initiatives while contributing valuable feedback to product development and global Research & Development teams.
What You’ll Bring - 10+ years’ experience within the heavy machinery sector (ideally mining, construction, or infrastructure).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical (preferred) or Electrical Engineering.
- RPEQ registered, or eligible and willing to obtain registration.
- Proven hands-on technical problem-solving capability with experience leading a regional technical, engineering, or service operation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships across customers, dealer networks, and global stakeholders.
- Demonstrated regional leadership capability across geographically dispersed teams and diverse markets.
- Background in reliability, quality, continuous improvement, or operational excellence.
- Experience working within a global OEM environment, with exposure to Asia Pacific markets and multi-country compliance will be highly regarded.
- A proactive, self-driven mindset with a strong commitment to learning, development, and continuous improvement.
This role offers regular travel across Oceania, with increasing exposure to the broader Asia Pacific region over time. In addition, you will have opportunities for international travel to Europe for technical training and collaboration with global Research & Development teams, providing outstanding opportunities for professional and technical development.
