Financial Accountant - FMCG/Retail Industry
Location: Central London
Salary: Approx. £300 - £350 per day
Hybrid: 2-3 days office-based
 
Our client is an international global retail giant, home to some of the most iconic brands in the retail space. As they scale, they're looking for a hands-on, commercially focused Financial Accountant during a period of transformation and system implementation. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in stakeholder management and systems, within a fast-paced FMCG retail environment.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the month end close, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
• Produce clear monthly P&L commentary with detailed cost analysis
• Own the balance sheet reconciliation process, allocating tasks and driving timely completion
• Prepare and review reconciliations for payroll, fixed assets, accruals and prepayments
• Manage the Fixed Asset Register including additions, disposals and depreciation, ensuring full reconciliation to the general ledger
• Oversee Accounts Payable activity including supplier reconciliations, purchase order creation and receipting
• Support bank reconciliations across Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll accounts
• Review and improve finance processes, strengthening internal controls and maintaining clear process documentation
• Work across Oracle Cloud Fusion and Microsoft Business Central, ensuring accurate reporting and alignment with third party outsourcing partners
• Prepare and submit the monthly Debtor Scorecard with analysis to support the FP&A team
• Deliver ad hoc financial analysis including contractor costs, distribution costs and other key metrics
• Support the year end audit process, acting as a key contact for auditors
• Partner closely with the Regional Financial Controller on ad hoc reporting and business requests

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline, with a professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or CPA preferred
• Proven experience within FMCG, retail or a similarly fast paced commercial environment
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively across regions and functions
• Experience working across multiple ERP systems, ideally Oracle Cloud Fusion and Microsoft Business Central
• Experience leading reconciliation and review processes, with exposure to team coordination or supervision
• Track record of supporting finance transformation projects and system implementations
• Strong problem solving skills with a practical and solutions focused mindset
• Experience reviewing and documenting finance processes, with a focus on strengthening internal controls
• High levels of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential financial information
• Collaborative and culturally aware, comfortable working across multiple regions and cross functional teams
