QA Administrator
Mackay, QLD |$90,000 - $120,000 + Super
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented QA Administrator to support the ongoing delivery and maintenance of quality assurance systems across workshop and project operations.
Working closely with production, engineering, and project teams, this role is responsible for coordinating quality documentation, inspection records, compliance reporting, and project data books to ensure all work meets client requirements, Australian Standards, and internal quality procedures.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in fabrication, welding, mining, or heavy industrial environments who enjoys working in a fast-paced and technically focused setting.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Documentation & Records Management
- Maintain and control quality documentation including ITPs, WPS/PQRs, material traceability records, weld logs, and NCRs
- Compile and manage project quality dossiers, handover packs, and data books
- Ensure document control systems are maintained in accordance with ISO 9001 and client requirements
- Manage document revisions, approvals, and version control processes
- Archive completed project quality records accurately and efficiently
Inspection & Testing Coordination
- Prepare and issue Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) in collaboration with project and engineering teams
- Track inspection progress and ensure hold and witness points are completed and signed off
- Coordinate inspections with third-party providers and client representatives
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test reports, material certificates, and quality documentation
Non-Conformance & Compliance Management
- Raise, track, and close out NCRs and corrective actions within required timeframes
- Follow up outstanding quality actions with relevant departments
- Assist with reporting and analysis of NCR trends and continual improvement initiatives
- Support workshop and project teams in maintaining compliance with company quality systems and Australian Standards
Welding & Fabrication Quality Support
- Maintain welder qualification registers and welding procedure records
- Coordinate NDT activities including radiography, UT, MPI, and DPI inspections
- File and maintain weld maps, weld logs, PWHT records, and NDT reports
- Support fabrication and mechanical quality assurance activities across projects
Audits & Quality Systems
- Assist with internal and external quality audits, including ISO 9001 audits
- Support the close-out of audit findings and corrective actions
- Help maintain and improve the company Quality Management System (QMS)
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and client specifications
About You Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a QA/QC administration or document control role within mining, fabrication, engineering, or heavy industry
- Strong understanding of quality documentation, inspection processes, and non-conformance management
- Familiarity with welding documentation and fabrication quality requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
- Knowledge of AS/NZS 1554 welding standards and AS/NZS 2980
- Understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Experience coordinating NDT inspections and quality testing activities
- Certificate IV in Quality Assurance, Welding, or related discipline
- Experience within mining, CHPP, Longwall, or heavy industrial projects
