Business Manager – Accounting & Advisory

Are you an experienced public practice accountant ready to step into a broader leadership role within a growing firm?
We are partnering with a well-established accounting and advisory practice seeking a Business Manager to oversee operations, support the Directors, and lead a high-performing team of accountants.
This is a senior role within public practice — ideal for someone who enjoys managing people, reviewing technical work, improving processes, and ensuring the smooth running of a busy and successful firm.
The Opportunity As Business Manager, you will take ownership of the day-to-day management of the accounting division, ensuring workflow is running efficiently, deadlines are met, and quality remains high.
You will work closely with the Directors to support staff development, oversee client delivery, and maintain strong operational performance across the practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and manage a team of accountants and support staff
• Oversee workflow, WIP management and billing processes
• Review financial statements, tax returns and compliance work
• Ensure technical quality and adherence to deadlines
• Improve internal systems and operational efficiencies
• Support Directors with practice management and growth initiatives
• Maintain strong client relationships and manage escalations where required

About You

• CA / CPA qualified
• Strong background in public practice accounting
• Proven leadership experience within a firm environment
• Technically strong across tax and compliance
• Organised, process-driven and confident managing workflow
• A natural mentor who enjoys developing junior and mid-level staff
