Turks are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Finance Team on a full time basis in Sydney.

About the role
The Finance department is an integral part of the firm and its service company. The team manages all aspects of the financial running of the business in conjunction with the financial aspects of matter maintenance. They provide information and support to all levels of the firm.
The main duties in the finance team consist of accounts receivable, accounts payable, trust accounting, payroll and reporting. The Financial Accountant will work closely with the Head of Finance to ensure delivery of regulatory and statutory compliance requirements are met.
Responsibilities
You will take responsibility and ownership over a range of tasks, including but not limited to;
- Preparing daily cash flow reporting and forecasting;
- Preparing monthly BAS;
- Managing month end activities, including journal posting (Aderant Expert), variance analysis, and providing meaningful commentaries on the drivers of variances
- Reconciling balance she;et accounts;
- Preparing monthly reporting pack including fee earner, billing and opening statistics, client statistics etc;
- Working with external accountant to prepare annual tax returns and financial statements, FBT returns and any other statutory compliance lodgments;
- Calculating monthly intercompany management service fees;
- Calculating and reviewing Equity Partners remuneration, providing monthly calculations to Payroll Officer;
- Assisting HOF to prepare monthly board papers;
- Assisting HOF to prepare partner accounts reconciliation;
- Assisting HOF to prepare annual budget and forecast including liaising with Share Services Managers in terms of their actuals and budget setting;
- Assisting HOF to improve internal reporting structures;
- Dealing with a range of stakeholders with regards to finance queries, including banking, management reporting;
- Assisting and supporting other team members as required (AR, AP, Trust Officer, Payroll Officer); and
- Supporting HOF with any projects and ad-hoc analysis and as required.
RequirementsTo be considered for this role, you will have
- An accounting or finance degree with CA/CPA qualification (or working towards it);
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role;
- Strong MS Excel skills;
- Ability to meet reporting deadlines;
- Strong written and verbal communication;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- A proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate and resolve issues; and
- Strong Attention to detail.
Experience with Aderant Expert software, Power BI and background in a Professional Services environment is desirable.
