Finance Assistant (Fixed-Term Cover) | Hybrid - South East London | £35,000
 
Overview
We are supporting a educational/training organisation to find a Finance Assistant/Assistant Management Accountant (immediately available) to join their team on a temporary basis. This role is central to keeping financial operations running smoothly, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, organisation, and timely processing of financial data. You'll work alongside the Finance Lead and colleagues across the business to support financial administration, assist with reporting, and help maintain efficient processes. 
 
Key Duties:
 
Financial Operations & Monitoring

• Track daily cash positions and provide regular updates to the finance team
• Assist in maintaining short-term financial projections
• Support periodic reviews of cash movement and balances

Customer Billing & Collections

• Record incoming payments and ensure accurate allocation within internal systems
• Prepare and distribute client invoices in line with internal approvals
• Keep billing schedules up to date and ensure deadlines are met
• Follow up on outstanding balances and support credit control activities
• Cross-check financial data between systems to ensure consistency

Supplier Payments & Processing

• Review and log supplier invoices, ensuring correct coding and filing
• Support the entry of supplier transactions into the accounting system
• Help maintain organised and auditable financial records

Expenses & Company Cards

• Monitor employee expenses and company card usage
• Ensure transactions are correctly categorised and supported by documentation
• Assist in preparing summaries and reports for review

Period-End Support

• Help ensure transactions are recorded accurately ahead of month-end close
• Assist with journal entries and basic adjustments where needed
• Support reconciliation activities across various accounts

About You:
 
Experience & Knowledge

• Previous experience in a finance or accounts-based role
• Comfortable working with financial systems (any ERP/accounting software is beneficial)
• Good working knowledge of spreadsheets (e.g. Excel)
• Familiarity with financial processes such as invoicing, reconciliations, or transaction processing
