Financial Controller | Renewable Energy | London | £110,000 - £130,000 | 4 office days
We’re looking for a Financial Controller who wants more than “month‑end and maintenance.” You can shape the finance function, build capability, and influence decision‑making across the business.
If you’re an experienced ACA (or equivalent) with a background in private equity, asset management, or renewable energy infrastructure, and you’re ready to step into a role with real autonomy and impact, this could be the right move.
The Opportunity
You’ll join the central finance team as the right hand to the FD, taking ownership of group financial reporting, strengthening governance, and driving operational change.
You’ll lead a team of four and operate across accounting, reporting, treasury, tax, systems transformation, and new-vehicle launches. Think of it as a blend of classic controller responsibilities + strategic influence + hands‑on improvement work.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and mentor the corporate accounting team to deliver fast, accurate, high-quality financial reporting.
- Own the close process, reporting cycles, and regulatory submissions.
- Oversee statutory accounts and audits, maintaining a high bar for governance and compliance.
- Manage VAT, transfer pricing, and tax-related processes in partnership with the tax team.
- Monitor capital, liquidity, and cash positions across multiple group entities.
- Use NetSuite, Power BI, and other tools to automate, streamline, and strengthen controls.
- Enhance policies, processes, and controls across both corporate and fund structures.
- Contribute to new fund and vehicle launches, coordinating with administrators, tax advisors, and banking partners.
- Optimise relationships with outsourced accounting providers.
- Build a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team.
What You Bring - Experience in private equity, infrastructure investing, or asset management.
- Strong technical accounting skills (IFRS and UK GAAP).
- A track record of improving processes, controls, and financial systems.
- Confident leadership style, able to develop people and work well with senior stakeholders.
- Proactive, ownership-oriented mindset with a desire to build rather than maintain.
- Experience with carried interest or co‑investment schemes is a strong plus.
Who This Role Suits This role appeals to someone who:
- enjoys modernising finance environments,
- likes variety and problem‑solving,
- wants a leadership position without the corporate red tape,
- thrives in investor‑led or infrastructure‑focused businesses, and
- wants to directly influence how the finance function evolves.
If you’re ambitious, technically strong, and looking for a role where you can genuinely shape the future of a finance team, we’d love to hear from you.
