A leading retail business is seeking an experienced Interim Tax Manager and Tax Specialist to support both direct and indirect tax activities. This newly created role has been introduced due to continued growth and will require someone who can establish and implement effective tax processes from the ground up for an international business.
This role is a 6-month contract paying a day rate (inside IR35) at £500 -£600 per day.
The position will play a pivotal part in ensuring compliance, managing tax obligations, and providing practical guidance across the organisation's expanding tax portfolio.
Your responsibilities: Direct Tax
Oversee the preparation and submission of corporate income tax returns across multiple jurisdictions
Build and maintain intercompany pricing models and complete all transfer pricing documentation
Provide guidance on tax‑efficient structures for existing and future entities
Ensure full compliance with withholding tax requirements and secure treaty benefits with appropriate supporting documentation
Maintain audit‑ready records aligned with accounting standards, and support tax audits with robust analysis and documentation
Take full ownership of tax provisioning, deferred tax calculations, and tax disclosures required for statutory reporting
Indirect Tax
Advise on indirect tax requirements across the UK, US, EU, and additional jurisdictions, ensuring regulations are accurately embedded into business operations
Oversee VAT/Sales Tax compliance across registrations
Develop and execute a global indirect tax strategy that aligns with evolving business models
Manage VAT/Sales Tax registrations and filings across multiple jurisdictions, including monitoring US state nexus
Implement and optimise automation tools
Ensure compliance with marketplace VAT rules and manage tax obligations related to consignment models
Partner with Supply Chain teams to support tax and duty compliance
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Experienced in Tax (Direct and Indirect) for a International business
Qualified Accountant and/or CTA
Global tax planning, compliance, and reporting.
Knowledge of Shopify & Stripe would be ideal.
Proactive and self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset.
Exceptional attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
