Interim Revenue Accountant
Hybrid – East London
£400 per day (umbrella)
3 month contract | Full-time 

We’re supporting a well-established membership body and training organisation in East London to appoint an Interim Revenue Accountant on a day-rate. This role plays a key part in maintaining strong financial control and transparency whilst the business hires a permanent employee. 

The interim will bridge day-to-day revenue activity and formal financial reporting, ensuring revenue data is accurate, well-controlled and clearly understood, while providing timely insight to support decision-making, planning and external accountability.

Key Responsibilities

• Reconcile revenue data between operational systems and the general ledger on a regular basis
• Maintain robust schedules and reporting tools to support accurate revenue recognition
• Produce clear, timely revenue reports for senior management and governance stakeholders
• Support revenue forecasting, highlighting trends, assumptions and emerging risks
• Prepare variance analysis against budgets across multiple income streams
• Work closely with fundraising and delivery teams to support funder reporting and audit evidence
• Monitor restricted income and compliance, ensuring processes are proportionate and auditable
• Collaborate with the wider finance team to ensure records are accurate, complete and up to date
• Partner with system users to improve data quality, reconciliations and handover points
• Prepare revenue-related schedules for audit and respond to audit queries
• Apply relevant accounting standards consistently, documenting assumptions and judgements
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual work and strengthen controls

Experience & Requirements

• Qualified Accountant or strong finalist level (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
• Solid understanding of revenue recognition and relevant accounting standards
• Proven experience with reconciliations and management reporting (multi-stream income)
• Advanced Excel / spreadsheet skills with strong data-handling capability
• Non-profit or grant-funded environment experience desirable
• Confident communicator, able to work effectively across teams and senior stakeholders
• Comfortable working at pace and meeting deadlines in an interim environment
