The Opportunity
Rightway Recruitment is representing a well-established mechanical contractor with a strong presence across Vancouver Island. Our client specializes in delivering full-scope mechanical construction for multi-unit residential, condominium, and high-rise developments, alongside select commercial projects.
The company provides comprehensive mechanical solutions including plumbing, HVAC, gas, fire protection/sprinklers, controls, mechanical insulation, commissioning, and related building systems. Their residential construction experience includes large-scale new-build developments where they manage the mechanical scope from early planning and layout through construction, commissioning, and completion.
Technology and pre-planning are also a major part of how the business operates, utilizing tools such as AutoCAD, digital modelling, and advanced layout technology to improve coordination, productivity, and accuracy in the field.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager or Senior Project Coordinator who understands the demands of multi-unit residential construction and wants to join a growing contractor with a strong project pipeline and modern approach to mechanical construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through completion
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, forecasting, and cost control
- Coordinate full mechanical scopes including plumbing, HVAC, gas, fire protection, controls, and related systems
- Work closely with General Contractors, developers, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal field teams
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and project documentation
- Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and project requirements with field leadership
- Support Foremen and site teams to maintain quality, safety, productivity, and project schedules
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders
- Provide regular project updates and financial reporting to senior leadership
Project Scope - Strong focus on high-rise and multi-unit residential construction
- Condominium and purpose-built rental developments
- New construction and large-scale residential projects
- Full mechanical packages including plumbing, HVAC, gas, fire protection/sprinklers, controls, insulation, and commissioning
- Select commercial construction projects
- Involvement from project planning and coordination through installation and final commissioning
What You Bring - Experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Coordinator within mechanical construction
- Strong preference for experience with high-rise, multi-unit residential, condominium, or large residential developments
- Solid understanding of plumbing, HVAC, gas, and related mechanical building systems
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, change orders, and financial performance
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
- Ability to coordinate effectively with General Contractors, consultants, field teams, and subcontractors
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience with mechanical estimating or pre-construction is considered an asset
