Their advanced engineering division, based in Metro Vancouver, specializes in designing and developing heavy-duty battery-powered electric drive systems and supporting infrastructure. The team is dedicated to creating proprietary EV components at the PCB level and delivering complete turn-key systems, including battery packs, vehicle structures, a world-leading dyno, and proprietary firmware and control systems for drive motors, chargers, controllers, DC/DC converters, and battery management systems.
 
Job Description:
 
Our client is seeking talented Mechanical Engineers to join their Advanced Engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to develop and test cutting-edge equipment that will shape the future of the mining industry. As part of a team at the forefront of BEV mining technology, successful candidates will play a pivotal role in research and development efforts.
 
Roles and Responsibilities:

• Create 3D mechanical models and designs
• Lay out electrical controls and schematics
• Route hydraulic lines and wire harnesses
• Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Prepare shop drawings for manufacturing
• Source and research components
• Document all work meticulously
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Engage in independent learning and skill development 

Skills and Qualifications:
Must-have:

• Engineering degree, robotics diploma, or similar qualification
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Basic understanding of electrical circuits and controls
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to work quickly, diligently, and independently
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• Strong documentation capabilities

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with SolidWorks, Creo, or other 3D CAD modeling software
• Ability to design electrical schematics
• Knowledge of advanced control systems 

To really impress:

• Basic knowledge of BEV systems and components
• Experience designing prototypes
• Ability to design hydraulic and cooling schematics
• Experience with mining equipment or heavy-duty vehicles
• Advanced 3D CAD knowledge (Routing, PLM)
• CANbus experience
