Rightway Recruitment is representing a well-established and respected mechanical contractor based in Port Coquitlam. The company delivers technically complex work across commercial, healthcare and institutional projects throughout British Columbia.
Our client is known for its hands-on leadership, collaborative culture, and strong technical capability, particularly in projects that require a high level of coordination and constructability planning. The business places a strong emphasis on BIM-driven execution, prefabrication, and practical field integration, ensuring projects are fully buildable before they reach site.
Due to continued growth and an increasing pipeline of specialty projects, they are seeking a BIM / VDC Designer to join their team in Port Coquitlam. You will be responsible for developing high-quality Revit models using MEP Fabrication Parts, supporting clash detection and coordination, and producing shop drawings and spool drawings that directly support prefabrication and field installation. You’ll be supported by experienced project teams, strong internal BIM standards, and an organization that genuinely values constructability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Project Management and VDC leadership team, the BIM / VDC Designer will be responsible for:
- Developing detailed Revit models using MEP Fabrication Parts for plumbing and aquatic systems
- Producing shop drawings, spool drawings, and installation layouts for field and fabrication use
- Performing clash detection and coordination using Navisworks Manage
- Supporting prefabrication workflows, constructability reviews, and field execution
- Coordinating closely with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, and other trades
- Interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and design intent
- Maintaining internal BIM standards and model organization
- Performing QA/QC reviews on models and drawings prior to issue
- Supporting drawing revisions, RFIs, and coordination changes throughout the project lifecycle
- Assisting with model handover, record drawings, and project closeout documentation
What You Bring: - 3+ years of BIM / VDC experience within plumbing or mechanical piping environments
- Strong proficiency with:
- Autodesk Revit (MEP Fabrication Parts)
- Navisworks Manage
- AutoCAD / CADmep
- Solid understanding of plumbing systems, slopes, clearances, and installation practices
- Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple trades and internal teams
- Strong attention to detail and a practical, constructability-focused mindset
- Clear communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred Assets: - Experience with aquatic systems, pools, or specialty piping
- Fabrication modeling and spooling using ITMs
- Familiarity with BIM 360 / ACC and Procore
- Knowledge of pipe materials, valves, pumps, and mechanical equipment
Work Environment & Conditions: - Full-time, permanent position
- Office-based in Port Coquitlam, with collaboration across project teams
- Occasional site coordination as required
- Standard business hours with flexibility depending on project demands
Compensation & Benefits Compensation Range: Up to $90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
