Job Overview:
We are seeking a Regulatory and Compliance Engineer to join a fast-paced, collaborative team that’s developing next-generation battery electric vehicle (BEV) systems. This role will focus on ensuring products meet applicable safety and industry standards throughout the development lifecycle.
  
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in engineering principles, an obsession with detail, and a deep curiosity to understand why something is (or isn’t) compliant. You’ll work alongside mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software engineers, guiding teams through standards interpretation, certification requirements, and safety evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research and interpret applicable standards (e.g. ISO, CSA, UL, CE) related to battery-electric systems
• Support internal teams in integrating compliance requirements into design and development workflows
• Ensure technical documentation is accurate, complete, and audit-ready
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and purchasing teams to assess compliance of designs and components
• Assist in preparing for product certifications, testing, and third-party audits
• Contribute to internal processes and templates for compliance tracking and documentation
• Lead hazard analysis reviews and support risk assessments as needed

  
Must-Have Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or equivalent)
• Keen understanding of hazard-based safety engineering principles
• Outstanding research and documentation skills
• Passion for learning and a drive to dig deep into technical and regulatory challenges
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, technical environment
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

  
Nice-to-Have

• Certification or training in regulatory or product safety evaluation
• Experience with compliance documentation and testing processes
• Understanding of BEV systems and components
• Familiarity with mining equipment or heavy-duty vehicles
• Working knowledge of electrical circuits, control systems, and mechanical design

  
Bonus Points For

• Prior experience with ISO/UL/CSA/CE certification
• Knowledge of CANbus systems and embedded control environments
• Experience designing or testing electrical or hydraulic subsystems
• Patent process knowledge or legal studies background
• Hands-on experience with prototyping or building complex mechanical/electrical systems

• Salary: $90,000 – $110,000 depending on experience
