With ongoing growth comes new opportunities! Phase Mechanical is on the lookout for a Lead Hand (Plumber) to supervise new projects and expand its impressive portfolio. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in construction management, particularly within the mechanical contracting realm, along with the leadership skills to guide diverse teams and tackle complex projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Liaison & Oversight: Serve as the primary connection between the Project Management and Field Teams, ensuring construction aligns with specifications and quality standards. Plan and supervise installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing and mechanical systems, including HVAC and refrigeration.
- Blueprint & Resource Management: Review blueprints and job orders for compliance with building codes and safety regulations. Assist the Superintendent in manpower forecasting and performance evaluations, while managing material deliveries to the job site.
- Daily Operations & Mentorship: Supervise Mechanical and Plumbing operations, coordinating daily activities of apprentices and journeymen. Provide mentorship and guidance to developing personnel.
- Work Coordination & Productivity: Establish effective methods to meet schedules, coordinating activities with departments and subcontractors. Identify and resolve issues to enhance productivity and quality.
- Safety & Reporting: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain safe working conditions. Prepare schedules and compile progress reports.
- Training & As-Built Preparation: Conduct employee orientations and safety meetings. Prepare As-Built drawings for AutoCAD.
Qualifications: - Experience: Licensed Plumber (Red Seal) and/or Crew Lead with over 5 years in mechanical and plumbing, having completed 1–3 projects. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Construction Knowledge: Strong grasp of construction processes, quality management, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Safety Practices: In-depth knowledge of occupational Health & Safety standards.
- Technical Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365; willingness to learn additional software.
- Detail Orientation: Excellent organizational skills with a focus on prioritizing multiple tasks.
- Problem-Solving & Communication: Strong analytical skills and effective communication abilities, enabling professional interactions and conflict resolution.
- Dependability & Leadership: Proven ability to meet deadlines and lead teams, including mentoring Journeymen and Apprentices.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the British Columbia Plumbing Code (BCPC).
- Positive Team Player: Ability to work independently and collaboratively, fostering a positive workplace culture and effective time management skills.
