Overview A leading Premium Private Hospital in Abu Dhabi or Al Ain is seeking an experienced Consultant in Clinical Genetics to join its expanding specialist medical services.
The successful candidate will provide genetic assessment, diagnosis, counselling, and management for patients and families affected by inherited and genetic conditions. The role involves close collaboration with Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Neurology, Oncology, Haematology, Neonatology, and other specialist departments.
Clinical Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical genetic assessments.
• Take detailed personal and family histories.
• Assess patients with suspected inherited disorders.
• Interpret genetic and genomic testing results.
• Provide pre-test and post-test genetic counselling.
• Manage patients with:
  • Rare genetic disorders
  • Chromosomal abnormalities
  • Inherited metabolic diseases
  • Neurogenetic conditions
  • Hereditary cancer syndromes
  • Congenital disorders
• Support prenatal and reproductive genetic counselling.
• Collaborate with Obstetrics and Maternal & Fetal Medicine teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary genetic case conferences.
• Communicate complex genetic information clearly to patients and families.
• Contribute to clinical research, education, audit, and quality improvement.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation.

Requirements

• Recognised Medical Degree
• Recognised Specialist / Consultant qualification in Clinical Genetics or Medical Genetics
• Relevant Consultant-level clinical experience
• Strong experience in genetic diagnosis and counselling
• Experience interpreting genetic testing and genomic investigations
• Valid UAE medical licence or eligibility preferred
• Excellent communication skills

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Fellowship or advanced training in Clinical Genetics
• Experience in genomic medicine
• Experience with rare diseases and hereditary cancer syndromes
• Previous tertiary hospital experience
• Academic or research background
• Existing UAE licence or eligibility
