Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist – Oculoplastic & Cornea
Location: Al Ain, United Arab Emirates
Employment Type Full-time 
Salary: AED 85,000 – 100,000 per month (all-inclusive, tax-free)

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist with subspecialty expertise in Oculoplastics and Cornea to join a leading hospital in Al Ain.  The successful candidate will provide specialised, high-quality ophthalmic care to infants and children, manage complex congenital and acquired eye conditions, and contribute to clinical leadership, teaching, and service development within a tertiary-care environment.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive paediatric ophthalmology services in outpatient and inpatient settings
• Diagnose and manage congenital and acquired eye disorders in children
• Perform specialised surgical and non-surgical procedures in paediatric oculoplastics and corneal diseases, including:
  
  • Congenital eyelid and lacrimal disorders
  • Paediatric corneal pathologies and infections
  • Ocular surface diseases
  • Trauma-related oculoplastic and corneal conditions
• Participate in emergency ophthalmology and on-call consultant coverage

Multidisciplinary & Leadership Role

• Collaborate with paediatrics, neonatology, neurology, ENT, and other specialties
• Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and case discussions
• Provide expert consultation support to referring physicians
• Supervise, mentor, and train junior doctors and allied health staff

Education, Quality & Governance

• Contribute to teaching, clinical training, and continuing medical education programs
• Participate in clinical audits, research, and quality improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, DOH regulations, and international best practices

Required Qualifications

• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent)
• Specialist qualification in Ophthalmology
• Subspecialty fellowship/training in Paediatric Ophthalmology
• Additional recognised training or expertise in Oculoplastic and Corneal Ophthalmology
• Internationally recognised board certification (UK CCT, US Board, Canadian, Australian, or equivalent)
• Eligibility for licensure with DOH (Abu Dhabi)

Experience

• Minimum 5–8 years post-specialty experience, including consultant-level practice (as per DOH requirements)
• Demonstrated experience in paediatric oculoplastic and corneal procedures
