At ALS in Knowsley, we’re looking for a Sample Receipt Supervisor to help keep our sample management process running smoothly. You’ll be at the heart of our operations — receiving, logging and coordinating sample dispatches accurately and efficiently. You’ll work closely with friendly colleagues across departments and have the chance to build on your skills in a supportive environment.
This role is ideal for someone with a couple of years’ experience in inventory or sample management, looking for a new challenge and a chance to grow with a company that values teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.

About the Position
- Shift: Monday to Friday
- Contract: Full-time, permanent position
- Salary: Competitive, with opportunities for progression
The day to day - Coordinate the receipt, logging, and safe storage of incoming samples, ensuring accuracy and traceability through ALS’ in-house systems.
- Liaise closely with Inspection and Assay teams, providing proactive support and clear communication to maintain efficient workflows.
- Oversee the timely dispatch of samples to both UK and international destinations using a range of courier platforms.
- Maintain meticulous records of all sample movements, storage, and processing, both electronically and on paper, in line with company procedures.
- Deliver excellent customer service, handling internal and external queries professionally and ensuring effective issue resolution, including Customs-related matters.
- Support inventory management by performing regular checks on sample storage and office supplies, contributing to operational efficiency.
The Essentials - Minimum 2 years' experience in inventory and sample management, with a proven ability to operate efficiently in high-pressure environments.
- Proficient in Management Information Systems, with a strong focus on data accuracy, technology use, and process efficiency.
- Highly organised and able to multitask, demonstrating initiative, sound judgement, and the ability to prioritise competing demands effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with experience engaging stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to assess risk and implement practical, impactful solutions.
- Committed to continuous improvement, with knowledge of Quality Management Systems, ISO 9000 standards, and their application in business.
- Team-oriented with leadership potential, including the ability to support, coach and develop junior colleagues while aligning with company goals.
