The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Site Quality Officer in the Quality Team at ALS in Clonmel, Ireland.
This role involves supporting the testing laboratory daily, in assuring the quality of test results.
This is done through carrying out QC laboratory work. A multifaceted role for someone with an interest in Quality and would include working closely with the QA and laboratory team to understand the testing operations and techniques.
The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to work in a quality system based on ISO 17025 to develop skills in quality management and gain experience in areas such as auditing, document control, calibration, equipment management and other aspects of Quality management.
Hours Per Week: 40
Days Per Week: Monday to Friday (08:00 – 17:00)
Contract: Full Time & Permanent
Salary: €29,063
The day to day
- Carry out daily equipment checks in the laboratory.
- Carry out analytical quality controls for the laboratory.
- Ensure document control procedures are adhered to in all areas and assist in the issue and archiving of records.
- Assist with the maintenance of equipment & training records.
- Assist with internal investigations & complaints.
- Assist in induction training of new staff.
- Assist in the preparation for yearly external audits and customer audits
- Act as an audit officer for internal audit programme.
- Be responsible for day-to-day administration In the QA office.
The Essentials - Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Chemistry, Biology, Food Science) or equivalent experience/education
- Ideal candidate must be genuinely interested in Microbiology and Quality and motivated to learn and adapt.
- Previous experience in a scientific or quality environment is essential.
- Good understanding of quality control and quality assurance principles and practices
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients
- Computer literate with Microsoft Office and previous experience with LIMS would be an advantage.
