The Role
The ICP Departmental Manager will be responsible for the operation of specific laboratory functions, ensuring compliance with best practices and achieving budgeted financial performance. This role involves the determination of a wide range of inorganic parameters in metal and mineral analysis using various ICP analytical techniques. The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, organise workloads, and provide training, mentoring, and technical support to the ICP team.
Hours Per Week: 37.5
Days Per Week: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Full Time and Permanent
The day to day
- Oversee the operation of ICP laboratory functions in line with agreed objectives.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2017 standards.
- Manage and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Organise workloads to meet deadlines.
- Provide training, mentoring, and technical support to the ICP team.
- Develop and validate analytical methods.
- Liaise professionally with internal and external customers.
- Ensure health and safety policies are promoted and implemented effectively.
The Essentials - Preferably a degree in Chemistry, Science, Management, or a related field or equivalent experience
- Significant analytical experience in ICP analysis with a minimum of 7 years.
- Minimum of three years managerial experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Full working knowledge of ICP instrumentation.
- Ability to interpret data readings and resolve analytical issues.
- Experience with quality services and ISO standards.
- Working knowledge of LIMS (Laboratory Information and Management System).
- Goal-driven to deliver timely and accurate service.
- Excellent customer focus.
