The Role

ALS is a global leader in scientific testing, with headquarters in Australia and laboratories located across more than 60 countries. ALS provides comprehensive testing solutions in a wide range of industries including environment, food and beverage, mining, personal care, pharmaceutical, healthcare and equipment reliability.

ALS Life Sciences has a fantastic opportunity for a Microbiology Section Head to join their team in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. Hours Per Week: 40
Days Per Week:  Mondays to Fridays from 9.00am to 6.00pm
Contract:  Permanent

The day to day

• Supervise and allocate work within the microbiology laboratory, ensuring high-quality standards.
• Provide training and technical support to staff, fostering continuous development.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, quality systems, and EHS regulations, maintaining a safe work environment.
• Review and validate test results, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
• Participate in internal and external audits, supporting quality assurance initiatives.
• Oversee equipment calibration, quality controls, and daily checks to maintain ISO compliance. 

  
The Essentials

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Microbiology laboratory is required. Training or supervisory experience an advantage.
• Hold Third Level Qualification in Science supported by experience in Microbiology analysis.
• Excellent standards of PC literacy (Excel, Word)
• Analytical and logical approach with a keen eye for detail
• Able to thrive under pressure and work as part of team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
