Approach Consulting is partnering with a Defence manufacturer to recruit a Quality Officer for its growing Canberra operations.

Working within the quality team, you'll inspect electronic components and assemblies, identify defects and help ensure products meet the required technical specifications. This would suit someone who enjoys detailed, practical work and wants to build their career within Defence manufacturing.

About the role
Reporting to the Principal Quality Officer, you'll work closely with production and engineering teams to maintain product quality and resolve issues as they arise.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting receiving and first article inspections against drawings, specifications and inspection test plans.
• Inspecting electronic components and assemblies against relevant IPC standards.
• Using verniers, micrometers and microscopes to assess product conformity.
• Maintaining inspection records and reviewing supplier quality documentation.
• Raising non-conformance reports and supporting corrective actions.
• Contributing to material review and product defect management processes.
• Improving inspection procedures, checklists and test documentation.

About you
You'll bring at least two years' experience in a similar quality or inspection role, with strong attention to detail and a practical approach to solving problems. You'll be comfortable working independently while communicating clearly with the wider team.
We're particularly interested in people with:

• Experience inspecting electronic components or assemblies.
• The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of relevant IPC standards, with certification highly regarded.
• Confidence using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
• Good documentation skills and experience with Word, Excel and systems such as SharePoint.

Qualifications in electrical or electronic engineering are preferred.
