Approach are recruiting a Lead Power BI Data Engineer for a multi-year contracting opportunity at a major Australian scientific research organisation. The organisation is at the forefront of scientific research, innovation and technology, delivering research that benefits Australian industry, government and the broader community.
As part of a significant cyber security uplift program, you will lead the technical design and delivery of an enterprise reporting capability, bringing together cyber security and organisational data to deliver trusted, actionable insights for operational teams, executives and governance stakeholders.
Location - QLD, WA, ACT, VIC, NSW, SA
AGSVA Clearance Required - NV1
The Role
Working with a geographically dispersed team across cyber security, data, technology, governance and risk, you will be responsible for:
- Leading the technical design and development of the cyber reporting solution.
- Building scalable data ingestion, integration, transformation and modelling processes across multiple systems.
- Developing Power BI dashboards, reports and visualisations for operational and executive decision-making.
- Establishing data quality, governance, traceability and reporting assurance practices.
- Applying Microsoft data technologies, automation and AI where they deliver practical, governed benefits.
- Documenting the solution and supporting its transition into business-as-usual operations.
About You - Proven experience delivering enterprise reporting, business intelligence or analytics solutions in complex environments.
- Strong technical capability across data integration, transformation, modelling and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience developing Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
- An understanding of data governance, quality, lineage and information security.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across a geographically dispersed team.
Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, AI-enabled analytics or cyber security frameworks such as NIST CSF, the Essential Eight or the ASD Information Security Manual will be
highly regarded.
