Approach Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Exchange Specialist to join a large-scale Federal Government environment supporting critical enterprise messaging services. This is an opportunity to work within a highly skilled infrastructure team responsible for the delivery, security and ongoing enhancement of a complex Microsoft messaging environment.

Candidates can be located in the ACT, QLD, VIC, NSW, SA.
Contractors must be on site in State Offices when required or as per business needs.

The Opportunity
You'll play a key role in administering, supporting and modernising enterprise messaging platforms, ensuring secure, reliable and high-performing communication services for a large government organisation. Working across both on-prem and cloud environments, you'll contribute to operational support, service improvements, platform enhancements and strategic initiatives.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support Microsoft Exchange on-prem and Exchange Online environments.
• Investigate and resolve complex messaging and infrastructure issues.
• Monitor service performance, availability and mail flow.
• Implement and maintain email security, compliance and governance controls.
• Manage mailboxes, distribution groups and messaging service configurations.
• Support migration, modernisation and service improvement initiatives.
• Develop technical documentation, support procedures and knowledge articles.
• Provide technical guidance to stakeholders, project teams and support staff.
• Support incident, problem and change management processes.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of messaging services and platform reliability.

Essential Experience

• Strong experience supporting and administering Microsoft Exchange environments.
• Proven capability across infrastructure operations, maintenance and service improvement.
• Experience designing and implementing complex technical solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem management and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience automating administration tasks through scripting and tooling.
• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation and knowledge transfer materials.

Technical Skills

• Exchange 2019 / Exchange Subscription Edition (SE).
• Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online.
• Hybrid Microsoft messaging environments.
• PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Experience with Enterprise Vault, Arctera (Veritas) or similar archiving solutions.
