We're partnering with a nationally significant Australian cultural institution seeking an experienced Senior Storage Engineer to take ownership of a large-scale enterprise storage and data protection environment responsible for safeguarding digital collections of enduring national importance.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a specialist role where you'll influence long-term storage strategy, shape critical infrastructure decisions, and ensure information remains protected, accessible and preserved for future generations. You'll be the recognised storage expert within the organisation, providing technical leadership across storage, backup, recovery and data preservation capabilities.

What You'll Be Doing
As the senior storage specialist within Technology Operations, you'll lead the design, operation and continuous improvement of the organisation's storage and data protection capability.

You'll be responsible for:

• Designing and evolving enterprise storage architectures and storage tiers.
• Forecasting long-term capacity requirements for rapidly growing digital collections.
• Managing storage networking, restoration and data integrity capabilities.
• Operating and enhancing enterprise backup, replication and recovery platforms.
• Maintaining Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity capabilities.
• Managing LTO tape environments and archival storage operations.
• Monitoring performance, capacity, utilisation and platform health.
• Leading storage lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching and hardware refreshes.
• Strengthening cybersecurity controls across critical infrastructure platforms.
• Supporting vendor engagement, procurement activities and technology projects.

What We're Looking For
You'll be an experienced storage professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and being the trusted expert others rely upon.

Ideally you'll bring:

• 5+ years' experience designing, implementing and managing large-scale storage environments.
• Strong experience across enterprise storage, backup and recovery technologies.
• Expertise in capacity planning, availability management and infrastructure operations.
• Experience supporting highly available and resilient environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and vendor management skills.
• The ability to provide technical leadership and influence strategic outcomes.
• Baseline security clearance (preferred).
• Government experience is welcomed but not essential.
• An understanding of procurement processes would be highly regarded.
