Assistant Project Manager for long standing contracts within federal government and defence
The Company
Approach has partnered with a national project management consultancy specialising in the delivery of government and defence projects within secure environments. With a strong presence across Australia, the business operates at the forefront of PMO-led delivery, supporting major programs that require structure, governance, and precision.
With a growing pipeline of secured work, they are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support delivery across a range of high-security projects.
The Role
As an Assistant Project Manager, you will work within a PMO environment supporting the delivery of government and defence projects. You will assist with project planning, reporting, scheduling, and coordination across multiple workstreams, ensuring projects are delivered in line with program objectives and governance frameworks.
You will work closely with senior project managers and stakeholders, contributing to project documentation, tracking progress, and supporting communication across teams. This role provides excellent exposure to structured project environments and is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in project management within secure sectors.
What You Need
You will have 1–3 years’ experience within project environments, ideally across construction, engineering, architecture, or project management disciplines. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities will be essential.
A Baseline or NV1 Security Clearance is highly desirable, or the ability to obtain one. You will be comfortable working within structured environments, following processes, and supporting delivery across complex programs.
On Offer
This is an excellent opportunity to join a national consultancy delivering meaningful government and defence projects. You will gain exposure to PMO environments, structured project delivery frameworks, and secure projects not commonly available in the broader market.
The role offers strong mentorship, career progression, and long-term stability within a growing sector.
