Position Title:
Technical Sales Manager – Mechanisms Group (General Motors Experience)
Location: Oakland County, Michigan
Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Technical Sales Manager to support our Mechanisms Group, focusing on key OEM relationships—particularly with General Motors. This role serves as a strategic liaison between our global engineering/manufacturing centers and customers, driving technical and commercial alignment to grow the business and ensure successful program execution.
Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary customer interface, fostering strong relationships and providing a consistent local presence.
• Lead commercial discussions, pricing proposals, and contract negotiations.
• Drive quoting activities for new business opportunities and ongoing programs, collaborating cross-functionally to develop accurate and timely responses.
• Participate in technical reviews and customer meetings to represent engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
• Support global open issue meetings, ensuring effective communication and alignment between customers, internal teams, and global manufacturing sites.
• Develop and present technical review materials for customer meetings and high-level management presentations.
• Identify new market opportunities and contribute to strategic planning efforts that support growth and profitability.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution required.
• Minimum 5 years of technical sales experience in the automotive industry, ideally with a Tier-1 supplier.
• Strong understanding of OEM systems, processes, and product development cycles.
• Direct experience with automotive mechanism systems (e.g., hinges, door checks, or complex mechanical assemblies).
• Working knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, PPAP/PSW, QOS, and related engineering disciplines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); CAD skills a plus.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
• Legally authorized and able to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%).
• Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and proven resilience in problem-solving environments.

  
Preferred Qualifications:

• MBA or other business-related degree.
• Experience with Salesforce or other CRM platforms.
• Prior involvement with GM programs or a strong network within General Motors is highly valued.
