Cost Accountant
Summary:
This position is responsible for managing all cost accounting activities, including product cost development, manufacturing cost variance analysis, and financial reporting. The role will also support the annual budgeting process, monthly financial forecasts, and month-end close process, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and IFRS regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist the Controller with daily, weekly, and monthly accounting, analysis, and reporting.
• Manage the Cost Accounting module in SAP ERP, including staging materials, maintaining material master data, and calculating standard product costs.
• Prepare monthly financial forecasts, collaborating with Logistics and Plant Supervisors to project sales and spending.
• Support the annual budgeting process, including developing manufacturing cost budgets and determining labor and overhead rates.
• Coordinate the month-end close process, completing controlling steps, analyzing financial results, and identifying variances.
• Prepare month-end journal entries (e.g., accruals) to ensure compliance with US GAAP & IFRS, and provide supporting documentation to corporate accounting.
• Assist manufacturing and engineering teams with costing and tracking cost-saving initiatives.
• Support Inventory Control in partnership with PC&L, including implementing and sustaining a Cycle Count program and monitoring daily inventory transactions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and costing principles.
• Extensive SAP costing experience required.
• Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across multiple levels of the organization.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables).
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Must have at least 3-5 years  in an accounting position in a manufacturing facility.
• Experience in the automotive industry is a plus.
• Prior plant/manufacturing experience is a plus.

• Strong mathematical and quantitative skills.
• Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Knowledge of SAP ERP (required) and Cycle Count programs (preferred).

• Ability to analyze, interpret, and present financial data clearly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to ask relevant questions, actively listen, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Capability to identify and resolve practical problems and interpret complex instructions.

• Limited travel 2 times a year.
• Must be able to work under tight deadlines with frequent interruptions.
