Field Service Engineer - Oakland County, MI

Position Summary
 
As the US Field Service Engineer, you are responsible for preventive maintenance, assisting customers with machine-related issues by troubleshooting & breakdown support, and installing upgrades & new systems at customers mainly in North America.

Key Functions & Responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer:

• Providing the customer with correct knowledge transfer, listening to their requirements, and providing them training on operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the system.
• Identify customer needs and pass these on to make improvement suggestions to both the customer and us on upgrades, service activities, and spare parts.
• Ensure detailed and timely reporting, providing feedback concerning specific customers’ wishes and technical developments as well as thorough administration of all customer complaints in the ERP system.
• Direct report to our USA’s Business Manager.

Required Experience, Skills, & Abilities of the Field Service Engineer:

• Bachelor or technical degree, preferably in electrical engineering, or at least perform at this level
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in the machine building industry
• Experience or affinity with PVD/PACVD/CVD coating technology and/or vacuum/pressure technology is a big plus
• Willingness and ability to travel worldwide at least 60% if needed several weeks in a row. When requested you will travel the same or the next day.
• Initial training takes place for 6 to 8 weeks in Switzerland.
• You will need to be prepared to work/be available outside office hours to support customers when assigned (hotline).
• Good communication/speak & write English fluently and have a valid driver’s license and passport.
