Controls Engineer – Greater Louisville Area (Indiana)

The Controls Engineer will play a crucial role in optimizing production processes and ensuring product quality. This position requires a strong technical background in electrical engineering and automation, with a focus on PLC, HMI, and robotic systems. Key Functions & Responsibilities of the Controls Engineer
 

• Program, document, and maintain PLC controllers (Siemens & Allen Bradley) and Fanuc robots.
• Develop and maintain backup programs for all plant HMIs and PLCs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and control system issues.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize production settings to meet customer specifications.
• Identify and implement cost-saving measures and process improvements.
• Analyze process data to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Manage capital projects from initiation to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Lead equipment installations and commissioning.
• Oversee the work of external contractors and vendors.
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation for all control systems and processes.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, including LOTO procedures.
• Assist in the development of standard operating procedures and work instructions.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve production goals.
• Provide technical support and training to operators and technicians.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens & Allen Bradley) and HMI software.
• Experience with Fanuc robotics.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
• Exposure to loud noise levels and hazardous equipment.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
