About the role:
We're looking for a talented Data Engineer to join our Data and Analytics Team. You will contribute to the design, development and maintenance of our new cloud Enterprise Data Warehouse. You will help drive the vision, evolution, and innovation of the data warehouse and data governance initiatives. The end goal is to deliver accurate, consistent, reliable data to support business intelligence, data insights, machine learning solutions and business-wide data-led decision-making that will help revolutionise our business.
What you'll do:
- Play a key role in building the data foundations at Gumtree Group that facilitate analytics, reporting and AI rollout at scale
- Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines for ingesting, transforming and storing data using DBT and BigQuery
- Conducting SQL data investigations, optimisations, and troubleshooting pipeline-related issues
- Participate in peer code reviews and produce high-quality documentation
- Implement and support monitoring and alerting solutions for data quality, pipeline health, and performance metrics
- Adhere to technology standards, data governance, privacy policies and IT security standards
What you'll bring: - 3+ years experience in data engineering, including ETL processes, data modelling, and data warehouse development in cloud environments
- Experience in the design, development and support of Enterprise Data Warehouses
- Advanced SQL experience for data transformation and querying
- Hands-on experience working with DBT and BigQuery
- Experience in troubleshooting and addressing production defects, bug fixes and supporting ETL pipelines
- Experience working with large volumes of data and transforming it for optimal business use and ETL performance (time and cost)
- Experience in CI/CD and with GCP
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Proficiency in Python is a plus
