The Role:
The FP&A Analyst will be a key part of the Australian finance team. Located in Sydney and reporting to the Senior FP&A Manager, this role offers a blend of FP&A, Financial Accounting and Business Partnering, primarily focused on OPEX with some additional exposure to Revenue. Due to the dynamic nature of the team, the role scope can expand in the future.
We are looking for a developing finance professional who is prepared to be hands-on where needed and who has a proven track record of enhancing business and financial control whilst partnering with various business stakeholders.
What you’ll do:
FP&A (60%)
- Supporting the Head of Finance and Senior FP&A Manager (FP&A Team) on weekly, monthly, and quarterly forecasting to the CEO to ensure accurate, timely and relevant forecasts are prepared. Providing insights into Actuals vs Forecast vs Budgeted results
- Maintain and update OPEX and support on Revenue forecasting models for the FP&A Team, including developing key relationships with relevant stakeholders
- Support the creation and monitoring of the annual OPEX business budget
- Identify and communicate revenue and cost opportunities to the FP&A Team, including those resulting from balance sheet corrections
- Support the FP&A Team on other duties as needed on an ad hoc basis
Accounting (30%) - Support the FP&A Team and Financial Controller on the OPEX month-end close process, including accruals calculation and submission
- Support the wider finance team in reporting timelines to deliver a streamlined month-end close process
- Support external audit requests and the interim/YE audit process
- Be critical in challenging existing processes in place and suggest opportunities for improvements and efficiencies
Accounts Payable and Other (10%): - Be a point of contact for the business regarding the AU Accounts Payable function
- Support the business in AP-related matters (raising Purchase Orders, Invoice approvals, Vendor Onboarding, Invoice payment queries, T&E expenses) as they arise
- Support the finance team in reporting timelines to deliver a streamlined month-end close process
- Be critical in challenging existing processes in place and suggest opportunities for improvement
What you’ll bring: - 2-3 years relevant accounting experience in a medium-sized business environment
- Tertiary qualifications in a related field, for example, Business, Accounting, Commerce
- CPA or CA Qualification or working towards
- Demonstrated analytical skills in fast-paced environments, plus experience in working with medium or large accounting systems. Prior experience with Salesforce would be nice to have, but is not required
- Intermediate MS Excel level or greater
- Experience with Google Sheets would be a bonus
- Excellent partnering skills with the ability to influence and ultimately drive commercial outcomes
- Business and stakeholder management skills, while also being able to work in an agile environment and think critically
