About the role: 
 
As part of our growth journey, we are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. The tech team is responsible for solving customer problems on the Gumtree platform in innovative and efficient ways, leveraging cloud development patterns to build highly scalable and self-healing solutions.
 
This role works as part of a cross-functional, agile team where you’ll have the ability to create new features that engage and delight our customers. What you’ll do:

• Be a key team member working with delivery leads, other developers, product managers, QA, and operations teams to develop solutions that drive our OKRs
• Delight our customers and deliver great performance, scalability, and reliability
• Participate in and help drive the best possible ways of working for software development, including Continuous Improvement, CI/CD, test automation, A/B testing, and experimentation
• Collaborate with your colleagues about architecture decisions and work through solutions together

• 4+ years of experience with Java, Springboot and MongoDB
• Experience with cloud - ideally GCP
• Experience creating, maintaining, and modifying back-end APIs
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, and databases
• The passion to work in a dynamic agile team environment
• Good knowledge of what it means to work with large and/or distributed systems
• The mindset of a self-starter and being able to work autonomously
• The drive to seek out new opportunities, you love a challenge, and you look for creative ways to solve problems fast
• The ability to always think like our customer and keep that at the forefront of every decision you make
